No. 8 Beach Volleyball sweeps the competition on opening day of FSU Unconquered Invitational

The Longhorns defeat two conference opponents with wins against South Carolina and No. 5 Florida State.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 8 Texas Beach Volleyball swept the competition on day one of the FSU Unconquered Invitational, defeating two conference opponents.
The Longhorns started the day with a 4-1 victory over South Carolina followed by a 3-2 win over No. 5 Florida State. Texas concluded the day of competition with a 4-1 exhibition win over South Florida.
Texas started its first dual of the day against the Gamecocks with back-to-back two set wins from the No. 4 (Macey Butler/Noa Sonneville) and No. 3 (Maddison Parmelly/Karin Zolnercikova) pairs, 21-9, 21-9 and 23-21, 21-13. Battling in three sets, the pairs of Emma Grace Robertson and Katie Hashman (No. 2) and Vivian Johnson and Carys Patton (No. 5) secured two more wins for the Longhorns, 21-14, 23-25, 15-12 and 21-19, 19-21, 15-8. After six match points, Chloe Charles and Eva Liisa Kuivonen concluded the dual falling on the No. 1 court, 15-21, 21-19, 21-23.
The Longhorns began its second dual of the day with a 2-0 lead against the Seminoles with a 21-19, 21-13 win from the No. 4 pair (Butler/Sonneville) followed by a 21-17, 21-15 win from the No. 3 pair (Parmelly/Zolnercikvoa). A 22-20, 21-19 win against Robertson and Hashman on court two put FSU on the board. The No. 5 pair of Johnson and Patton entered a third set to secure the win for the Longhorns, 21-16, 10-21, 15-13. Texas finished the dual with the No. 1 pair (Charles/Kuivonen) falling, 24-22, 18-21, 13-15.
Texas took the first three courts against USF with a 21-5, 21-12 win from Parmelly and Zolnercikova (No. 3) followed by a 21-15, 21-17 win from Robertson and Hashman (No. 2) with a 18-21, 21-15, 15-8 win from Butler and Sonneville (No. 4). The final two courts battled in three sets with Charles and Kuivonen falling, 21-15, 16-21, 15-13 on court one followed by Hannah Ogden and Presley Wright defeating the Bulls on court five, 22-20, 17-21, 19-17.
The Longhorns return tomorrow to face No. 10 LSU and No. 15 Florida Atlantic for the second day of the FSU Unconquered Invitational.
