No. 6 Beach Volleyball takes down No. 1 UCLA at Texas Invitational

Texas earns first win over a No. 1 team, splits opening day at home.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 6 Texas Beach Volleyball picked up a 3-2 win over No. 1 UCLA on Friday, marking the program's first victory over a top-ranked opponent, during opening-day action at the Texas Invitational at Wright-Whitaker Sports Complex.
The Longhorns split the day, opening with a 4-1 loss to No. 2 Stanford before closing with the win against the Bruins.
Against UCLA, Texas built an early 2-0 lead with straight-set wins on Courts 5 and 4 from Karin Zolnercikova and Chloe Charles, and Emma Grace Robertson and Lily Davis. UCLA answered with victories on Courts 3 and 2 to even the dual.
The match was decided on Court 1, where Brecht Piersma and Katie Hashman regrouped after dropping the first set, 21-13. The pair responded with a 21-12 win in the second set and controlled the third, pulling away for a 15-12 victory to secure the dual for Texas.
Earlier in the day, Texas dropped its opener to No. 2 Stanford, with Anna Pavelkova and Kacka Pavelkova earning the Longhorns' lone point with a straight-set win on Court 2.
Texas continues competition Saturday, March 28, facing No. 10 Long Beach State at 10:30 a.m. CT and No. 3 USC at 2:30 p.m. CT. Both duals will air on LHN/KBVO, presented by Truist.
