No. 6 Texas Beach Volleyball collects two wins on final day of Texas Invitational

Longhorns defeat No. 3 USC and No. 10 Long Beach State to close tournament strong.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 6 Texas Beach Volleyball closed out the Texas Invitational on Saturday with two victories over ranked opponents, defeating No. 3 USC and No. 10 Long Beach State at Wright-Whitaker Sports Complex. The Longhorns improved to 16-6 overall and 15-6 against ranked teams, including three Top-10 wins over the two-day tournament.
Texas cruised past Long Beach State 4-1. After splitting the first two matches, the Longhorns won three straight, clinching the match on Court 1 when Brecht Piersma and Katie Hashman defeated Ashley Pater and Kennedy Coakley 21-17, 21-18.
Against USC, Texas collected a 2-1 victory from Savannah Thomas and Macey Butler on Court 5, followed by a win from Emma Grace Robertson and Lily Davis on Court 3. Piersma and Hashman sealed the Longhorns' victory on Court 1 with a 21-17, 21-19 win.
The Longhorns registered two top-three wins during the tournament and three ranked victories overall, including the programs first-ever win over the top-ranked team in the nation.
Texas will host No. 18 Washington, Houston Christian and Tulane at the Longhorn Showdown on April 3-4 at Wright-Whitaker Sports Complex.
