Austin – Texas Men's Tennis freshman Timo Legout and sophomore Lucas Brown officially received All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Tuesday. Legout earned the accolades in both singles and doubles, while Brown joined him in doubles.
It marks the seventh-straight year the Longhorns have had at least one All-American, and in that span under head coach Bruce Berque, Texas has now had a total of 25 honors by 10 different players. Those also include three in singles and four in doubles by Eliot Spizzirri, two in singles by Micah Braswell, three in doubles by Cleeve Harper, two in doubles by Siem Woldeab, one in doubles by Richard Ciamarra, three in singles by Yuya Ito, two in singles and one in doubles by Christian Sigsgaard, and one in doubles by Harrison Scott.
Additionally, it marks the third-straight year the Longhorns have had a player be selected in both singles and doubles after Spirrizzi did so in both 2023 and 2024. Spizzirri also accomplished the feat in 2021.
The criteria for ITA All-America singles honors include winning the ITA All-American Championship, advancing to the round of 16 at the NCAA Individual Championships, or finishing in the top 20 of the final ITA Singles Rankings. All-America recognition is awarded to doubles teams who win the ITA All-American Championship, reach the NCAA Championship quarterfinals, or finish in the top 10 in the final ITA Doubles Rankings.
Legout finished the season ranked No. 1 in singles, while Legout and Brown combined to be No. 6 in doubles. Meanwhile, both Legout in singles and the duo of Legout and Brown in doubles reached those respective semifinals at the NCAA Individual Championships in November.
The SEC Player of the Year, SEC Freshman of the Year and SEC Tournament MVP, Legout was 35-3 in singles this year with a 22-2 dual match record and a perfect 12-0 conference record, playing No. 1 in every match. He defeated the No. 1 of every SEC team except Kentucky with that going unfinished while he was up a set and leading in the second set. He had 24 ranked wins, 15 of which are in the top 50. He and Brown played No. 1 in 29 of 31 dual matches in doubles and was 7-5 in the SEC with 12 ranked wins overall this year and seven in the top-30. He and Brown played No. 1 doubles in 27 dual matches this season, and No. 2 in two additional. They won four of their last five decisions with two of those wins in the top-10 and finished with a 21-13 overall record and 13-12 mark in dual matches. In the fall, Legout was the singles and doubles champion at the ITA Texas Regionals, winning the title with Brown in doubles.
