Galvan, Volantis headline first-team honorees
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Longhorns standouts Rylan Galvan, Dylan Volantis, Ethan Mendoza and Luke Harrison earned all-region accolades from the American Baseball Coaches Association, the organization announced Tuesday morning.
Galvan and Volantis were named to the NCAA Div. 1 Central All-Region First Team, while Mendoza and Harrison garnered NCAA Div. 1 Central All-Region Second Team distinction.
ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. 1 All-American teams will be announced on June 13.
An All-SEC First Team pick, Galvan led the Longhorns in seven offensive categories, highlighted by a 1.065 OPS. The junior's 15 home runs were the most by a Texas backstop in a season since Chris Abbe in 1992. Galvan — who is one of three finalists for the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award — posted a .296/.452/.613 slash line and totaled 47 RBI.
One of the top relief pitchers in the country, Volantis notched a 4-1 ledger with a 1.94 ERA and 12 saves over 51 innings. In league play, the SEC Freshman of the Year paced all hurlers in ERA (1.59), WHIP (0.85), B/AVG (.160) and saves (11). Volantis' 11 saves in conference action set an SEC freshman record, breaking Ole Miss' Steven Head's 22-year-old mark. The 6-foot-6, 212-pound southpaw was tabbed an NCBWA Freshman All-American on Monday and is a finalist for both the National Pitcher of the Year Award and the Stopper of the Year Award.
In his first season on The Forty Acres, Mendoza tallied a team-best .333 average with five homers and 35 RBI as the Longhorns' leadoff man. The second baseman paced Texas in average, hits (75), triples (4) and multi-hit games (25), while tying for the club lead in stolen bases (15). Mendoza was one of four Longhorns to earn a spot on the SEC All-Defensive Team.
A stalwart on one of the best pitching staffs nationally, Harrison registered a 5-1 mark and a 3.06 ERA in 15 starts. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound left-hander mounted 72 strikeouts across 70 2/3 innings, holding opposing hitters to a .237 average. As of June 10, Harrison sits fifth in the SEC in ERA. In 2025, Texas went 12-3 when Harrison started.
The quartet helped the Longhorns post their best record in 15 years, finishing with a 44-14 ledger. Texas became the first team to win the SEC in its inaugural campaign in the league since 1933.
