AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas rookies Adrian Rodriguez and Dylan Volantis claimed Perfect Game Freshman All-America honors, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
Rodriguez and Volantis make the Longhorns one of three programs with multiple selections on the 22-player first team.
After a standout debut campaign, Rodriguez collected his first career All-America recognition.
The utility man slashed .313/.410/.516 with seven homers and 23 RBI, finishing second on the club in batting. Rodriguez also stole a co-team-best 15 bases.
A native of Flower Mound, Texas, Rodriguez ended the season on a 25-game on-base streak.
Volantis earned his second Freshman All-America distinction in as many days, after being named a first-team selection by the NCBWA on Monday.
A 6-foot-6, 212-pound closer posted a 4-1 record and a 1.94 ERA across 23 appearances. The SEC Freshman of the Year notched 12 saves, which is tied for 10th nationally.
In league play, Volantis paced all pitchers in ERA (1.59), WHIP (0.85), B/AVG (.160) and saves (11). His 11 saves in conference action set a new SEC freshman record, breaking a 22-year-old mark held by Ole Miss' Steven Head.
Volantis is a finalist for both the National Pitcher of the Year Award and the Stopper of the Year Award.
