AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas left-handed pitcher Dylan Volantis was named a Freshman All-American, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced Monday afternoon.
Volantis was among the 34 standout freshmen selected by the NCBWA, as the hurler collected first-team distinction.
A Thousand Oaks, Calif., native, Volantis burst onto the college baseball scene in his debut campaign on The Forty Acres, earning Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year honors.
In league play, Volantis led all pitchers (min. 25 inn.) in ERA (1.59), WHIP (0.85), B/AVG (.160) and saves.
The 6-foot-6, 212-pound southpaw's 11 saves in conference action are the most by an SEC freshman ever, breaking a 22-year-old record held by Ole Miss' Steven Head.
Overall, Volantis notched a 4-1 mark and a 1.94 ERA across 51 innings, registering 12 walks and 74 strikeouts.
As of June 9, the NCBWA Stopper of the Year finalist is tied for 10th nationally in saves (12).
Volantis helped the Longhorns post a 44-14 ledger, highlighted by the 2025 SEC regular season crown.
