Longhorn Legend Lloyd Glasspool wins Wimbledon men’s doubles title

A 2015 NCAA Doubles Champion, Glasspool becomes the first Longhorn since Wilmer Allison in 1931 to win the Wimbledon men’s doubles championship.
Wimbledon, England – Former University of Texas Men's Tennis player Lloyd Glasspool won the 2025 Wimbledon men's doubles championship on Saturday. A former 2015 NCAA Doubles Champion at Texas, Glasspool becomes the first Longhorn to win the Wimbledon men's doubles title championship since Wilmer Allison in 1931.
Glasspool and partner Julian Cash defeated Rinky Hijikata and David Pel, 6-2, 7-6 (3), to give Glasspool the first Grand Slam title for a Longhorn since both Steve Denton and Kevin Curren combined to win the 1982 U.S. Open. Glasspool joins Denton, Curren and Allison to as UT's Grand Slam winners in either singles or doubles.
Fifth-seeded Glasspool and Cash broke in the opening game of the match and then broke again for a 4-1 lead on the way to the 6-2 win. In the second set, Glasspool and Cash again broke first for a 3-2 lead and consolidated for 4-2, but Hijikata and Pel got the break back for 4-4. The set stayed on serve to a tiebreaker where Glasspool and Cash picked up a mini-break on the first point. The next two points were also broken until Glasspool and Cash held for 3-1. Hijikata and Pel claimed the next two points for three, but Glasspool and Cash took it from there with a 3-0 run to the title.
As a Longhorn, Glasspool combined with Søren Hess-Olesen to win the 2015 NCAA Doubles Championship and was a three-time ITA All-American, including both singles and doubles in 2015 and doubles in 2014.
Glasspool and Cash also made history by becoming the first all-British men's pair to win The Championships at Wimbledon since 1936.
