Men’s Tennis’ Brown wins singles title at ITA Summer Nationals

Junior Lucas Brown completed five-straight victories for the title and will now receive a wild card into the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships in September.
Memphis, Tenn. – Texas Men's Tennis junior Lucas Brown was the singles title at the ITA National Summer Championships on Tuesday in Memphis. Brown completed a stretch of five-straight victories for the title and will now receive a wild card into the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships in September.
The top-seeded Brown secured all of his wins in straight sets, including over Dhananjay Athreya of Fordham in the round of 32 (6-1, 6-1), Sachiv Kumar of Wisconsin in the round of 16 (6-1, 6-4), 5 seed Maxime Dubouch of Memphis in the quarterfinals (6-1, 6-4), Rohan Murali of Harvard in the semifinals (6-1, 6-0), and 3 seed Moritz Kudernatsch of Memphis in the final (6-2, 6-4).
Last year, Brown earned ITA All-America honors in doubles with partner Timo Legout as the duo finished the year ranked No. 6 nationally after having also reached the NCAA Doubles Championship semifinals and winning the ITA Texas Regionals doubles title in the fall. Brown finished the year with a 26-16 overall record in doubles, including 16-12 in dual matches, while in singles, he compiled a 25-6 overall record, including 15-4 in dual matches during which he played primarily at No. 6. He also went on to earn CSC Academic All-America Second Team honors.
The Longhorns finished the 2025 season with their third-straight Final Four appearance and fifth in the last six years. They were also the SEC regular season and tournament champions in their debut year in the conference and reached the semifinals of the ITA National Indoor Championships. Texas closed with a 29-5 record with the 29 victories matching the 2019 team for the most in a season dating back to 1975 when teams began playing shorter schedules.
