Freshman scores game-winning tally in 2-1 victory over Long Beach State.

LONG BEACH, Calif. — In front of dozens of friends and family, Sadie Hoch delivered the game-winning goal to complete No. 19 Texas' 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Long Beach State on Sunday evening.

Hoch — who hails from nearby Newport Beach — tapped in a perfect pass from fellow freshman Audrey Bryant to bury the decisive tally in the 81^st minute.

"She's playing well beyond her years. I'm just really pleased for her," head coach Ange Kelly said. "Sadie Hoch is just a sponge. She's growing and growing and growing. She had a tremendous preseason and it's just really awesome to see."

The midfielder's first career goal set off a frenzy on the Longhorns' sideline, as Texas (1-1) fed off the lively crowd at George Allen Field.

While Hoch played hero, Bryant's performance sparked the visitors' second-half rally.

After Long Beach State (1-1) took a 1-0 lead into the intermission, the Longhorns showed off their patented Texas fight.

In the 66^th minute, midfielder Olivia Ahern's corner kick bounced through traffic before finding Bryant in open space.

The forward's left-footed shot deflected off a defender's leg and trickled across the goal line to level the contest.

With Bryant and Hoch both finding the back of the net, the Longhorns' rookies have now accounted for three of Texas' four tallies this season.

Six true freshmen appeared for the Longhorns, including goalkeeper Mateya Dessieux. Dessieux notched 11 saves to earn her first collegiate victory.

Up next, Texas returns home to host Arizona State on Thursday. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

"I'm really proud of the response of our squad," Kelly said. "It was an exciting match, but I thought a lot of our young players grew up. Our team grew up as a whole. There were moments where we had seven or eight young players … When everything starts to click, they're going to be exciting to watch."
