Men’s Tennis advances two in singles at Battle in the Bay Classic

Senior Sebastian Gorzny and freshman Lucas Marionneau both moved on to the main draw singles round of 16.
San Francisco – Texas Men's Tennis advanced two in the singles main draw at the Battle of the Bay Classic in San Francisco on Thursday.
Senior No. 12 Sebastian Gorzny and freshman Lucas Marionneau both won their matches and moved on to Thursday's round of 16. Gorzny defeated Avery Tallakson of Boise State, 6-1, 6-3, while Marionneau topped Niels Villard of Arizona State, 6-4, 6-1.
Gorzny will next face Hudson Rivera of Stanford on Friday, while Marionneau will take on the top seed No. 6 Kenta Miyoshi of Illinois, both at 11 a.m. PT/1 p.m. CT.
Meanwhile, the duo of Gorzny and Marionneau also played together in doubles, but fell, 8-5, to 4 seed Cosme Rolland De Ravel and Duncan Chan of TCU. The Horned Frogs picked up the only break of the match on a deuce point for a 5-3 lead and maintained it to the finish.
Gorzny and Marionneau will next shift to the consolation quarterfinals against Stian Klaassen and Adrien Berrut of San Diego at 9 a.m. PT/11 a.m. CT.
