Senior Sebastian Gorzny split his singles matches on Friday, falling in the quarterfinals, while freshman Lucas Marionneau moved into the extra matches draw.
San Francisco – Texas Men's Tennis senior Sebastian Gorzny split his singles matches on Friday in the Battle in the Bay Classic, falling in the quarterfinals, while freshman Lucas Marionneau moved into the extra matches draw.
Senior No. 12 Gorzny first defeated Hudson Rivera of Stanford in the morning, 7-5, 6-1, in the round of 16 to reach the quarterfinals. However, there, he dropped his second match of the day to No. 96 Dominique Rolland of UCSB in three sets, 5-7, 6-0, 6-4.
Marionneau was downed by the top seed No. 6 Kenta Miyoshi of Illinois, 7-5, 6-1, in the main draw round of 16, moving Marionneau into the extra matches draw where he will face Neo Niedner of San Diego on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. PT/2:30 p.m. CT.
Meanwhile, the duo of Gorzny and Marionneau conceded to Stian Klaassen and Adrien Berrut of San Diego in a walkover to start the day.
