No. 2 Volleyball wins fourth-straight top 10 match with sweep of No. 9 TCU

Longhorns improve to 7-0 on the season with sixth victory over a ranked opponent.
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 2 Texas Volleyball team earned its fourth-straight win over a top 10 team after sweeping No. 9 TCU (25-12, 25-17, 25-18) and has now defeated six ranked opponents in seven matches. The Longhorns are now 7-0.
Texas was led by junior Torrey Stafford's fifth double-double of the season off a match-leading 15 kills and 13 digs and finished hitting .542. She also led the match with three service aces, half the team's total. Texas finished the night hitting .415 and held TCU to just 28 kills and a .163 attack percentage.
Wednesday's sweep is the first time TCU has been swept since November 15th of last season. The Horned Frogs haven't won a set in Gregory Gym since October of 2018.
Set One: The Longhorns opened the match with an impressive 6-0 run with junior defensive specialist Ramsey Gary at the service line. It was all Texas, hitting over 500 (.520) with 15 kills and kept the Horned Frogs to just five kills and a zero hitting percentage. Texas recorded 16 digs in the first led by Cari Spears with five. Stafford and Emma Halter also added two service aces. The last time Texas held an opponent to 12 points or lower was last season against Texas A&M Corpus Christi (12/5/24) in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
Set Two: In the closest set of the night, the two teams were tied 10 times with three lead changes, but ultimately Texas ended the set on an 11-3 run. Spears recorded five of her 10 kills in the second and ended the night hitting .526.
Set Three: Freshman Abby Vander Wal led Texas to its fourth sweep of the year in the third, tallying six kills. Stafford was lights out on both sides, knocking eight kills and digging six balls.
Texas will host No. 21 Baylor on Friday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. Central for its fifth-straight top 25 matchup.
