Men’s Tennis’ Burnett advances to qualifying draw at ITA All-Americans

Sophomore Evan Burnett won two matches on Sunday to move into the qualifying draw.
Tulsa, Okla. – Texas Men's Tennis sophomore Evan Burnett won two matches on Sunday at the ITA All-American Championships on Sunday to advance from the prequalifying draw into qualifying.
Burnett first defeated Martin Breysach of Kentucky, 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, and followed later in the day with win over Nicholas Heng of Auburn, 7-6 (5), 6-1.
Freshmen Lucas Marionneau and Mariano Dedura-Palomero also competed on Sunday with Marionneau taking his first match over Milos Mikovic of Arizona State, 6-3, 7-5, before falling to Bryan Cortes Hernandez of Mississippi State, 6-2, 7-6 (3). Dedura-Palomero was downed in his first match, 7-6 (4), 6-3, by Preston Stearns of Ohio State.
With the qualifying draw starting on Monday, Burnett will next face 7 seed #68 Diogo Morais of UC Santa Barbara at 1: 30 p.m. CT, while sophomore 15 seed No. 87 Oliver Ojakaar will begin play against No. 123 Jakub Vrba of Arkansas at 10 a.m. CT.
Ojakaar will also pair with sophomore Sebastian Eriksson in doubles qualifying where the eight-seeded No. 46 duo will play #83 Matthew Rankin and Nicolas Arseneault of Kentucky at 3 p.m. CT
