Longhorns open SEC action at Missouri on Sept. 12
WACO, Texas — Four days after scoring a season-high three goals, the University of Texas soccer team was blanked for the first time in 2025, falling to the Baylor Bears, 1-0, Thursday evening at Betty Lou Mays Field.
Forward Alysiah Lockette delivered the decisive tally for the Bears (3-0-2) in the 39th minute, as Baylor recorded its first win over Texas (2-4-1) in eight years.
On a give-and-go, Lockette fed midfielder Aryanna Jimison at the top of the 18-yard box. Jimison dished the ball back to Lockette, who slipped her second goal of the campaign into the back of the net.
The Longhorns mounted five corner kicks and 13 shots, but goalkeeper Azul Alvarez led Baylor to its fourth consecutive clean sheet.
Alvarez made three saves to extend the Bears' shutout streak to 446 minutes and 39 seconds.
In the defeat, forward Ava McDonald notched five shots and defender Chloe Shimkin totaled four attempts. Meanwhile, goalie Mateya Dessieux posted three stops.
Through non-conference play, four freshmen have earned starts in all seven matches, including McDonald and Dessieux.
Following an eight-day layoff — its longest break of the regular season — Texas opens SEC at Missouri on Sept. 12. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Audrey J. Walton Soccer Stadium.
In its inaugural campaign in the league last year, the Longhorns finished 6-3-1 before sweeping their way to an SEC Tournament title.
