Track and Field's Minor wins 600-yard run in Texas debut

Jeanne Le Goffe climbs to UT's No. 6 All-Time performer in women's triple jump.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas track and field closed out the Corky Classic with freshman Bayleigh Minor winning the 600-yard run in her Texas debut.
Minor lead a trio of Longhorns in the women's 600-yard run with a winning time of 1:19.51. Sophomore transfer Anouk Krause-Jentsch was the runner-up in 1:19.81 and fellow transfer Amelliah Birdow was fifth in 1:20.68.
Junior transfer Jayden Jones was fourth in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 21.03 and was the second-fastest collegian. Texas Ex Marcellus Moore finished 13th in 21.27 and senior Kendrick Smallwood was 18th in 21.43.
The women of Mackenzie Collins, Birdow, Krause-Jentsch and Abigail Wolfe finished third in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:34.92. The men's 'A' team of Chris Brinkley, Logan Popelka, Conor Kelly and John Rutledge also finished third in 3:06.85. The 'B' team of Jonathan Hertwig-Ødegaard, Neo Modibe, Troy Mason and Sihle Mahlangu were seventh in 3:08.89.
Freshman Jeanne Le Goffe recorded the third-best mark in the triple jump at 13.19m (43-3.25). Her second-round jump moved her up to No. 6 on the UT All-Time Performer list.
Junior Michael Piñones used his sixth-round throw to finish third in the men's shot put with his heave of 18.66m (61-2.75). The throw was his best season opener of his career. Sophomore transfer Shaiquan Dunn was seventh with a throw of 17.78m (58-4) and freshman Benjamin Shue was eighth at 17.71m (58-1.75). Junior transfer Giavonna Meeks returned to the throwing ring and finished fifth in the women's shot put with her first-round throw of 15.58m (51-1.50).
In high jump, junior Osawese Agbonkonkon finished tied for sixth clearing 2.10m (6-10.75) for the second straight meet. The women were led by Caroline Peterson who finished fourth clearing a collegiate best 1.71m (5-7.25).
