Track and Field's Meeks breaks weight throw program record again at Razorback Invite

Eitel moves to No. 3 on the school's all-time performer list in pentathlon.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Texas Track and Field's Giavonna Meeks broke the program record in the weight throw in her second-straight meet as a Longhorn. Meeks led the Longhorns with her second-straight win in Burnt Orange with the second-best throw in the NCAA.
Meeks' fourth-round throw of 23.65m (77-7.25) took first in the competition, while her four marked throws of the day rank 1-4 (23.65m, 23.61m, 23.21m, 23.10m) in UT history. She now owns all the top 10 throws in Texas history.
Sophomore Tabea Eitel climbed to No. 3 on the UT All-Time Performer list in the women's pentathlon with a personal best score of 4,107 points. Eitel's performance was highlighted by personal bests in all five events – 60-meter hurdles (8.55 seconds), high jump (1.69m | 5-6.50), long jump (6.10m (20-0.25), shot put (12.50m (41-0.25) and the 800-meter (2:25.54). The score is the 13th-best performance all-time in Texas history.
Freshman Jonathan Hertwig-Ødegaard ended the first day of the men's heptathlon in third with 3,219 points. The Norwegian recorded personal bests in all four events - the 60-meter dash (6.98 seconds), long jump (7.21 | 23-8), shot put (14.53m (47-8) and high jump (1.89m |6-2.25). He'll close his first collegiate heptathlon tomorrow with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and the 1,000-meter run.
On the track, Anouk Krause-Jentsch was third in the women's 300-meter dash in 38.41, while Mackenzie Collins was fourth in 38.46.
Freshman Mia Perez set a four-second personal best in the 800-meter with a time of 2:08.93 to finish 15thoverall.
Junior Xavier Butler led a group of Longhorns in the men's 200-meter with his time of 21.02 to finish 10th. Junior Troy Mason was 12th in 21.03 and Jayden Jones followed in 21.09 for 14th. John Rutledge crossed the line in 21.17.
Freshman Elise Cooper made her collegiate debut and finished third overall with a time of 23.13. Sophomore Carleta Bernard was close behind in fifth in 23.16, while redshirt freshman Naomi London was 11th in 23.56. Fellow freshman Abigail Wolfe was 17th in 23.72 and Ramiah Elliott rounded out the top 20 finishers for UT in 19th at 23.76.
Sophomore Sam Abati finished eighth in the men's pole vault after attempting 5.40m (17-8.50). Despite three close attempts, Abati ended up with a clearance of 5.20m (17-0.75).
In the men's high jump, Osawese Agbonkonkon cleared 2.10m (6-10-.75) on his first attempt to match his season high. Freshman Brandon Gorski was ninth in two attempts at the same height for a new personal best. Caroline Peterson was 12th on the women's side clearing 1.65m (5-5).
