Pitching powers 2026 team to victory in annual exhibition contest.
AUSTIN, Texas — Over 100 Texas baseball returned to UFCU Disch-Falk Field Saturday for the annual Alumni Game.
Behind a masterful pitching performance, the 2026 Texas Longhorns defeated the Alumni, 2-1.
Freshmen Brett Crossland, Brody Walls and Jack McKernan combined to toss six innings of one-run baseball.
Meanwhile, veteran hurlers Jason Flores, Thomas Burns and Cal Higgins teamed up to throw three scoreless frames. The trio totaled five strikeouts without yielding a free pass.
Transfer catcher Andrew Ermis delivered the game-winning hit, ripping a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh.
Pitching for the Alumni Team, rookie right-handed pitcher Sam Cozart set the tone, firing four hitless innings. Cozart punched out five batters and allowed just three base runners.
The Alumni Team featured MLB standouts Tres Barrera, David Hamilton and Hoby Milner, as well as fan favorites like Cincinnati Reds prospect Trey Faltine and Chicago White Sox farmhand Rylan Galvan.
Prior to the exhibition contest, the Longhorns hosted their annual Fan Appreciation Day. Thousands of fans met the players and coaches, while kids got the opportunity to play catch on the field and take photos with Bevo XV.
Texas begins its second season under head coach Jim Schlossnagle on Feb. 13 against UC Davis at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
