No. 2 Softball hosts Bevo Classic at McCombs Field

The Longhorns return to the friendly confines of McCombs Field for their home opener at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday, Feb. 12, vs. Abilene Christian.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Texas Softball returns to the friendly confines of McCombs Field for its home opening weekend, hosting the Bevo Classic on Feb. 12-15. Texas' six game slate features Abilene Christian, Ohio State, Syracuse and Northern Illinois. Texas will place Ohio and Syracuse twice. The full tournament schedule can be found here.
- Texas will open the Bevo Classic at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday, Feb. 12, vs. Abilene Christian. The Longhorns will play Ohio State at 5 and Syracuse at 7:30 on Friday, Feb. 13. Saturday's schedule features a 2:30 p.m. matchup against Ohio State and a 5 p.m. tussle vs. Syracuse. Texas will round out the weekend against Northern Illinois at Noon on Sunday.
- All six of Texas' games at the Bevo Classic will be available on ESPN+ with Lincoln Rose (play-by-play) and Cat Osterman (analyst) on the call Thursday-Saturday and David Saltzman (play-by-play) and Megan Willis (analyst) on the call Sunday. Andrew Haynes, Cameron Parker and Jake Herman will rotate on the radio call for all six games this season. Fans can listen at https://texas.leanplayer.com/.
- C Reese Atwood, who was named D1Softball's National Player of the Week and the SEC's Player of the Week, tied the program's career home run record after hitting her 58th in Texas' win vs. UTSA on Feb. 8. Atwood tied Taylor Hoagland's record of 58, which has stood since 2013. Atwood needs just one home run to claim the record.
- Texas will celebrate the 2025 National Championship with a signage reveal and National Championship recap video before Thursday's first pitch vs. Abilene Christian. Former Longhorn Katie Cimusz, who was part of last year's National Championship team, will throw out the first pitch. The first 500 fans at Thursday's game will receive a special National Championship poster as well.
- New for the 2026 season, additional bleachers were added to the first base side, which will allow for an additional 300+ fans to pack McCombs Field.
- The Longhorns boast an all-time record of 638-160-3 (.798) at home.
- The Longhorns opened the 2026 campaign at the UTSA Invitational on Feb. 6-8 and finished 4-1 with three top-25 victories.
- Texas is coming off of the program's first Women's College World Series (WCWS) National Championship in 2025. The Longhorns finished the historic season with a program-record 56 victories and a 56-12 overall record.
- The Longhorns' 10-2 postseason run in 2025 culminated with a 2-1 Championship Series (third appearance in four years) win over Texas Tech. In the winner-takes-all game three, the Longhorns clinched a 10-4 victory.
- Head coach Mike White is in his eighth season at helm of the Texas program and holds a 320-94-2 (.771) overall record during his time on the Forty Acres. In 17 combined seasons between Oregon (nine seasons) and Texas (eight seasons), White sports a 756-205-4 (.785) overall record.
Last Time Out
- Texas went 4-1 at the UTSA Invitational on Feb. 6-8 at Roadrunner Field in San Antonio, capturing three top-25 victories.
- With the season opening win vs. No. 9 Nebraska on Feb. 6, Texas is now 30-0 all-time in season openers. It was the program's second-highest season opening win.
- The Horns opened the season with a 15-10 win over No. 9 Nebraska on Feb. 6
- Texas followed with an 11-6 win vs. No. 25 Washington and then fell to No. 9 Nebraska, 8-5, on Feb. 7.
- The Longhorns ended the weekend with a 5-0 (6 inn.) shutout victory against No. 25 Nebraska and a 10-0 (5 inn.) win vs. host UTSA on Feb. 8

- Texas has won three-consecutive home openers, dating back to the 2022 season.
- The Horns have won nine of their last 10 home openers.
