No. 3 Softball hosts Longhorn Invitational

The Longhorns’ four-game slate features Houston, St. Bonaventure, Prairie View A&M and Incarnate Word. Texas opens the weekend at 6 p.m. Friday vs. Houston. All four games will be available on SEC Network+.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 3 Texas (15-1) returns to the friendly confines of McCombs Field to host the Longhorn Invitational on Feb. 27-March 1. The Longhorns will play a four-game slate vs. Houston, St. Bonaventure, Prairie View A&M and Incarnate Word. Texas opens the weekend at 6 p.m. CT Friday vs. Houston on SEC Network+.
The Longhorns will play a Saturday doubleheader beginning with St. Bonaventure at 2:30 p.m. followed by Prairie View A&M at 5 p.m. The Horns round out the weekend at 2:30 p.m. Sunday against Incarnate Word. All four games will be available on SEC Network+. Lincoln Rose and Megan Willis will have the call on Feb. 27-28. David Saltzman and Megan Willis will call Texas' game vs. Incarnate Word on Sunday. - Last time out, Texas defeated Southeastern Louisiana, 7-2, Wednesday night at McCombs.
- Texas had a 5-0 weekend at the DeMarini Invitational on Feb. 20-22. Texas opened the weekend with a 12-2 victory over No. 16 Arizona and a 4-3 win against host Stanford on Feb. 20. Texas then followed with a 10-0 (5 inn) win against Boise State and a 10-2 win at Santa Clara on Feb. 21. The Longhorns concluded the weekend with a 12-2 (five innings) win vs. No. 16 Arizona on Feb. 22. Texas took home three top-20 victories from the DeMarini Invitational.
- Junior RHP Teagan Kavan (6-0) was named D1Softball's National Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 24 following her performance at the DeMarini Invitational.
- In Texas' home opener at the Bevo Classic on Feb. 12, C Reese Atwood became the program's career home run leader after demolishing her 59th career home run vs. Abilene Christian. Atwood currently has 63 career home runs heading into Friday night. Her 63 career home runs lead all active NCAA players.
- The Longhorns currently hold a 13-game winning streak dating back to Feb. 7. It's the seventh-longest winning streak in the country.
- Texas is fresh off of the program's first Women's College World Series (WCWS) National Championship in 2025. The Longhorns finished the historic season with a program-record 56 victories and a 56-12 overall record.
- The Longhorns' 10-2 postseason run in 2025 culminated with a 2-1 Championship Series (third appearance in four years) win over Texas Tech. In the winner-takes-all game three, the Longhorns clinched a 10-4 victory.
- Head coach Mike White is in his eighth season at helm of the Texas program and holds a 331-94-2 (.778) overall record during his time on the Forty Acres. In 17 combined seasons between Oregon (nine seasons) and Texas (eight seasons), White sports a 767-205-4 (.787) overall record.
Series History
- Once Big 12 Conference foes, Saturday will mark the 39th all-time meeting between Texas and Houston. Texas leads the all-time series, 31-7.
- Texas and Houston will play for the first time since the 2024 Big 12 Conference regular season when UT clinched a rubber match game to take the series. Houston will be making its first trip to McCombs Field since April 20, 2022, when Texas defeated the Cougars, 6-4. Texas has won eight of the last 10 matchups, including two-straight contests.
- The Longhorns are 6-0 all-time vs. UIW. Texas and Incarnate Word will play each other for the first time since the 2023 season, with UT claiming a 8-0 (five innings) victory. It'll be the fifth time Texas and Incarnate Word will square off in Austin.
- Saturday will be the first-ever meeting between Texas and Prairie View A&M. Texas is 2-0 against opponents from the state of Texas this season.
- Saturday will be the first-ever meeting between Texas and St. Bonaventure.
