No. 2 Softball preview: Baylor

The Longhorns host Baylor at 6:30 p.m. CT Friday before traveling north to Waco, Texas, to take on the Bears at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Texas Softball will clash with the Baylor Bears in a home-and-away, two-game series during both team's conference bye weeks. Texas will host Baylor at 6:30 p.m. CT Friday, March 20, at McCombs Field before traveling north to Waco, Texas, to face the Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21. Friday's game will stream on SEC Network+ and Saturday's game will be available on ESPN+.
Texas is fresh off the program's first Women's College World Series (WCWS) National Championship in 2025. The Longhorns finished the historic season with a program-record 56 victories and a 56-12 overall record.
The Longhorns' 10-2 postseason run in 2025 culminated with a 2-1 Championship Series (third appearance in four years) win over Texas Tech. In the winner-takes-all game three, the Longhorns clinched a 10-4 victory.
Head coach Mike White is in his eighth season at helm of the Texas program and holds a 342-94-2 (.783) overall record during his time on the Forty Acres. In 17 combined seasons between Oregon (nine seasons) and Texas (eight seasons), White sports a 778-205-4 (.790) overall record.
The Longhorns are in the midst of a 24-game win streak, which ties for the longest win streak in program history (2006). Texas' 24-game win streak is the longest in the nation.
Additionally, Texas holds a 16-game win streak at home and is 14-0 at McCombs Field this season. Texas' 16-game win streak at home is the third-longest streak in the country.
Texas is coming off a weekend sweep over Ole Miss at home on March 13-15. The Longhorns defeated the Rebels, 3-1, in last Friday's series opener before cruising to two run-rule victories. Texas clinched the series with an 11-2 (6 innings) win on Saturday followed by a 15-3 (five innings) win in Sunday's series finale. Texas has swept both of its SEC opponents this season.
Junior RHP Teagan Kavan received her second career SEC Pitcher of the Week honor on March 10. Kavan guided Texas to a road series sweep over No. 24 South Carolina to open league play on March 6-8 in Columbia, S.C. The West Des Moines, Iowa, native went 1-0 with a save in two appearances (one start) vs. the Gamecocks, recording a 0.88 ERA. Kavan surrendered just one earned run on six hits across 8.0 IP with seven strikeouts. Kavan did not give up an extra-base hit and held opponents to a .214 batting average.
