AUSTIN, Texas – No. 1 Texas Softball will travel to San Marcos, Texas, for a midweek tilt vs. Texas State at 6 p.m. CT Wednesday, March 25, at Bobcat Softball Stadium. The game will stream on ESPN+ with Brant Freeman (play-by-play) and Nicole Mendes (analyst) on the call.
The Longhorns are 28-1 on the season, 6-0 in SEC play, 15-0 at home and 7-0 on the road. Last time out, Texas played a two-game, home-and-away series vs. Baylor on March 20-21. Texas won the first game at home, 10-2, in five innings before run-ruling the Bears on the road, 11-0, in five innings to sweep the series.
Series History
- Texas and Texas State are no stranger to one another as Wednesday night will mark the 64th all-time meeting between the two programs. Texas leads the all-time series, 48-15, and has won four-straight against the Bobcats.
- The Longhorns are 16-5 on the road vs. Texas State.
- In last year's meeting, Texas defeated Texas State, 10-1, in five innings on April 9, 2025, at McCombs Field. It'll be Texas' first trip to San Marcos since Feb. 28, 2024. Texas won that game, 1-0.
The Horns are Hot
- The Longhorns have won a program-record 26-consecutive games, dating back to their third game of the season. Texas broke the previous program record win streak of 24 games that was set by the 2006 team. Texas' 26-game win streak leads the nation as well.
A Two-Way Star
- Freshman RHP Hannah Wells earned her first career SEC weekly honor after being named the SEC's Freshman of the Week on March 24.
- The Coahoma, Texas, product joins Reese Atwood and Teagan Kavan as Texas' SEC weekly honorees this season.
- Wells, a two-way player, has played an integral role in Texas winning a program-best 26-consecutive games, including its 2-0 weekend vs. Baylor on March 20-21.
- In two starts vs. Baylor, Wells hit at a .500 clip with a 2.100 OPS, 1.500 slugging percentage, .600 on-base percentage, two hits, three RBI, one home run, one double, two runs scored, six total bases and one walk. In one start in the circle, Wells went 1-0 with a 1.75 ERA, four hits, one earned run, two strikeouts and did not allow a walk across 4.0 innings pitched.
- Wells (4-1) was Texas' starting pitcher in its March 20 series opener vs. Baylor at McCombs Field. Wells made her fifth start and earned the win after going 4.0 innings in the circle against the Bears. The right hander allowed just one run on four hits while punching out two batters. Wells did not allow a walk and retired the first five batters she faced. Wells helped her own cause offensively and finished 1-for-2 at the plate with a solo home run and also drew a walk. Reese Atwood, Katie Stewart and Wells hit three-consecutive home runs in the fourth to tie the program record for most consecutive home runs. It was just the sixth time in program history that has happened.
- Starting as the Longhorns' designated player at Baylor on Saturday, March 21, Wells went 1-for-2 at the plate with a two-RBI double down the left field line in the second.
- Defensively, Wells recorded an assist and had a perfect fielding percentage (1.000 FLD).
- In her first season on the Forty Acres, Wells has appeared in 20 games with 18 starts, tallying a .308/.712/.390 slash line with 16 hits, 20 RBI, six home runs, 13 runs scored, three doubles and seven walks. Her six home runs rank third on the team. In the circle, Wells is 4-1 with a 2.05 ERA and 24 strikeouts across 27.1 innings.
