Right-handed pitcher earns second career weekly league distinction
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Longhorns standout Ruger Riojas garnered Southeastern Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Riojas shared the prestigious recognition with Florida's Jackson Barberi. This marks his second career weekly league distinction, after being named the SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week on March 31, 2025.
Against No. 8 Oklahoma, Riojas became the first Longhorn to post a complete game shutout since Pete Hansen accomplished the feat against TCU on April 8, 2022.
Riojas struck out eight across seven scoreless innings, scattering six hits along the way.
The right-hander registered his fifth win in his first seven starts, as No. 2 Texas notched the largest shutout victory in Red River Rivalry history.
Riojas is the fourth Longhorn to collect an SEC weekly honor in 2026, joining Dylan Volantis (Feb. 16), Temo Becerra (March 3) and Sam Cozart (March 9).
No. 2 Texas wraps up its four-game homestand against Texas State on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
