No. 5 Beach Volleyball sweeps No. 16 GCU and No. 18 Washington to open MPSF Mid-Season Rumble

Longhorns earn two ranked victories on opening day of tournament.
LOS ANGELES – No. 5 Texas Beach Volleyball swept both opponents on the opening day of the MPSF Mid-Season Rumble at Mapes Beach on Friday. The Longhorns improved to 6-2 overall, with all eight matches coming against ranked opponents. Texas now has 12 sweeps in program history, including five against ranked teams.
Texas opened the day with a 5-0 victory over No. 16 GCU. The pair of Macey Butler and Lily Davis clinched the match for the Longhorns with a 21-18, 21-16 win on Court 5.
The Longhorns completed their second sweep of the day with a 5-0 win over No. 18 Washington. Brecht Piersma and Katie Hashman secured the clinching point for Texas with a 21-14, 21-17 victory over the Huskies.
Texas continues play at the MPSF Mid-Season Rumble on Saturday, March 7, facing Oregon at 11 a.m. CT before taking on No. 1 Stanford at 1 p.m. CT.
