AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas rookies Anthony Pack Jr. and Sam Cozart were named consensus Freshman All-Americans after collecting first-team distinction from D1Baseball on Wednesday morning.
Pack Jr. and Cozart garnered first-team recognition from Baseball America, the NCBWA and Perfect Game in June. The Longhorns are the lone program with a pair of honorees on D1Baseball's top team.

A 5-foot-10, 190-pound outfielder, Pack Jr. paced all Power Four freshmen in on-base percentage (.480), walks (47) and stolen bases (21), while ranking third in average (.355), hits (77), WRC+ (150) and wOBA (.483). The Baseball America National Freshman of the Year also finished fourth in slugging (.594), OPS (1.074) and RBI (56)
Pack Jr. mounted 12 home runs and 56 RBI, highlighted by the first-ever three-homer postseason game in program history. Meanwhile, the SEC Freshman of the Year's swiped the most bags by a Longhorn freshman since Drew Stubbs in 2004.
In league play, Pack Jr. recorded the SEC's top batting average (.400) and on-base percentage (.511). The Lakewood, Calif., native became the first SEC freshman to hit .400 in conference action since Mississippi State's Jake Mangum accomplished the feat in 2016.
The NCBWA Stopper of the Year and Freshman Pitcher of the Year, Cozart led all Division I hurlers (min. 50) in WHIP (0.73) and B/AVG (.140). The 6-foot-6, 260-pound right-hander also tallied the second-lowest ERA (1.72), trailing only UC Santa Barbara's Jackson Flora (1.06).
Cozart notched a 6-0 ledger and nine saves, tying for the most of any freshman in the country. He collected 77 punchouts over 52 1/3 innings.
The High Point, N.C., native was tabbed a unanimous consensus All-America, receiving first-team plaudits from the ABCA/Rawlings, Baseball America, D1Baseball, the NCBWA and Perfect Game.
