Outfielder tied for third-most homers by Longhorn in single season during lone campaign on The Forty Acres
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Longhorns junior Aiden Robbins was picked in the third round (No. 92 overall) by the New York Mets in the 2026 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Saturday afternoon.
Robbins became the second Longhorn to hear their name called in the draft, joining Minnesota Twins' second-round choice Carson Tinney (No. 42 overall).
One of the most prolific hitters in college baseball, Robbins left his mark in his lone campaign on The Forty Acres.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound outfielder smacked 24 home runs, matching Kody Clemens (2018) for the third-most homers by a Longhorn in a single season.
Robbins paced Texas in at-bats (237), hits (79), homers, RBI (64), total bases (165), slugging (.696), multi-hit games (27) and multi-RBI performances (19), while tying for the club lead in runs scored (68).
The 2026 SEC Newcomer of the Year also finished second on the team in average (.333) and OPS (1.122). He was one of six Longhorns to start at least 60 contests.
On Feb. 21 against Michigan State, Robbins delivered the first cycle by a Texas player since C.J Hinojosa accomplished the feat in 2015.
The 2026 NCAA Austin Regional Most Outstanding Player led the Longhorns to their NCAA-leading 39th appearance in the Men's College World Series.
Following his standout campaign in burnt orange, Robbins earned All-America honors from Baseball America, D1Baseball, the NCBWA and Perfect Game.
Across his three-year collegiate career, Robbins totaled a .355 average, 36 home runs, 133 RBI and a 1.083 OPS. The Yardley, Pa., native spent his first two seasons at Seton Hall.
