Leroux named Men’s Golf Assistant Coach/Director of Operations

Lake Leroux joins the Texas program after spending the last four years on the staff at Sam Houston State University.
AUSTIN, Texas — Lake Leroux has been named Assistant Coach/Director of Operations for The University of Texas Men's Golf program, head coach John Fields announced Monday. Leroux joins the Texas staff after spending the previous four seasons on the staff for the men's and women's programs at Sam Houston State University.
Leroux served as an assistant coach for the Bearkat men's and women's programs during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. He was promoted to the role of Associate Head Coach for both the men's and women's programs in July 2024 and worked in that capacity for the last two seasons.
During his time at Sam Houston, Leroux worked under head coach Brandt Kieschnick and helped the Bearkats claim three conference team championships, as the SHSU women earned the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) title in 2023 and won the Conference USA crown in 2024 while the men won the C-USA title in 2025. The Bearkats advanced to three NCAA Regionals as a team, recorded 22 total team tournament titles and had three players qualify as individuals for NCAA Regional competition.
Leroux helped develop Jennifer Herbst (now Jennifer Elliott), who went on to become the first player in program history to hold status on the Epson Tour and competed in the 2025 U.S. Women's Open at Erin Hills. His players have won individual titles at the Texas Women's Open, the Texas Women's Amateur, the Texas Amateur, the Metropolitan Amateur and the Ohio Women's Amateur. Leroux also played a major role in the recruiting efforts while at Sam Houston. He helped build a globally-diverse roster which included players from nine countries and five continents.
Prior to beginning his coaching career, Leroux played five seasons of collegiate golf at three different institutions. He spent two years at Hutchinson Community College in 2017-18 and 2018-19, where he helped the Blue Dragons advance to a pair of NJCAA Championship appearances, earn one conference crown and record an 11th-place team finish at the national championship. Leroux was named a finalist in 2019 for the NJCAA's Jimmy Russell Award, recognizing excellence in golf, academics and community service.
Leroux transferred to Wichita State and spent two years with the Shockers in 2019-20 and 2020-21. Following his time at Wichita State, he moved on to compete as a graduate student at Eastern Kentucky in 2021-22. While at Eastern Kentucky, Leroux competed in all 13 events for the Colonels and produced seven rounds of par or better while recording one top-10 finish and a season low 18-hole score of 67 at the EKU Intercollegiate. He earned Atlantic Sun Conference Golfer of the Week honors in February 2022. On the amateur circuit, Leroux won the 2021 Columbia Golf Championship that included a final-round 66.
Leroux earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Wichita State University in 2021. He went on to receive his master's degree in Exercise and Sport Science with a Sports Administration emphasis from Eastern Kentucky in 2022.
A native of Columbia, Mo., Leroux is married to the former Leah Alberto. His father, Mark Leroux, is the former longtime Men's Golf head coach at the University of Missouri.
