Gehrig Mosiello heads into his second season as the director of player development at Texas.
In his first campaign in Austin, the Longhorns registered their best record in 15 years, notching a 44-14 mark. Texas became the first club to win the Southeastern Conference in its first season since the league’s inaugural campaign in 1933.
The Longhorns, who were picked eighth in the league’s preseason poll, won the conference by two games. Texas’ 22-8 ledger in SEC action marked its best record in conference play since 2010.
Behind one of the country’s best pitching staffs and a powerful offense, the Longhorns were named the No. 2 national seed and hosted the NCAA Austin Regional.
On the mound, Texas posted the second-best WHIP (1.18) and the sixth-best ERA (3.71) in all of Division I baseball.
Offensively, the Longhorns mounted 85 home runs, the fourth-most in a season in program history. At the forefront of its approach, Texas worked lengthy at-bats, leading the country in pitches per plate appearance (4.08).
Before arriving on The Forty Acres, Mosiello spent the 2024 season as an assistant coach at Johnson University under former Tennessee skipper Dave Serrano.
He got his start in coaching, as an undergraduate assistant for two years at TCU. During the 2022 campaign, Mosiello helped the Horned Frogs claim the Big 12 regular season title.
The Aledo, Texas, native also boasts experience in the Alaska Baseball League, as an assistant in 2022 and manager in 2023. Both teams won championships, making Mosiello the youngest skipper to earn a title in league history.
As a player, he spent two seasons at Walters State Community College. As a freshman, Mosiello and the Senators reached the 2019 JUCO World Series.
Mosiello transferred to TCU, graduating with a bachelor's degree in history in 2023.
His father, Bill, is in his second stint as the associate head coach at TCU, previously serving on the staff from 2014-22. He was the head coach for two years at Ohio State (2023-24).
Mosiello and his wife, Morgan, reside in Austin.
