Sam Myers is entering her second season as an assistant athletic trainer with the University of Texas baseball program.
Myers arrived on The Forty Acres after spending eight years in professional baseball, including her final five campaigns with the Philadelphia Phillies organization.
Most recently, she served as the athletic trainer for the Clearwater Threshers, the Phillies’ Single-A affiliate.
In 2022, Myers worked as the major league medical operations liaison with the National Champion Philadelphia Phillies.
Prior to that, she spent two seasons with the Phillies’ Dominican Summer League affiliates, supporting player development and injury management at the international level.
Myers began her professional baseball career in 2018, as an athletic training student with the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. She followed that experience with an athletic training internship with the New York Mets organization, working with the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
Originally from Clayton, Calif., Myers earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from California State University, Sacramento. She went on to complete her Master of Science in Applied Exercise Science at Concordia University Chicago.
A certified athletic trainer, Myers is licensed to practice in both Texas and Florida. She is also a Corrective Exercise Specialist, a Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist and certified in dry needling.
Myers and her boyfriend, Jose, currently reside in Austin.
