Assistant Coach
Fifth Season at Texas
College: Belmont '02
Tracy Parsons enters her fifth season as assistant Women's Golf coach at The University of Texas. She came to UT in the summer of 2007 to rejoin head coach Martha Richards, as Parsons was Vanderbilt's assistant coach for over three years (2004-07).
Parsons and Richards have teamed up together to lead the Longhorns to the 2011 Big 12 Championship, three straight NCAA Championship appearances (2008, 2009, 2010) and two additional top-three finishes in league championships (2008, 2010). Through eight seasons, the tandem has advanced to the National Championship on five occasions (2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010).
In addition to her coaching duties, Parsons assists in recruiting, scheduling, team travel, planning player-related activities and aiding in the day-to-day operations of the Women's Golf program.
"Tracy is a tremendous addition to our coaching staff," Richards said upon Parsons' hire. "Having worked with her for three-and-a-half years at Vanderbilt, she and I have a great rapport with one another, and I know she will make a big impact here at Texas. Tracy has a great eye for identifying talent, and she will be a big part of our success."
Parsons played several key roles while serving as Richards' assistant coach at Vanderbilt. Assuming her duties in March 2004, Parsons assisted as the recruiting coordinator and was instrumental in the planning and coordinating of "Commodore Golf Day," the annual fundraiser for the Vanderbilt Men's and Women's Golf programs.
Parsons also led organizational efforts for Vanderbilt golf events, including the team's annual Mason Rudolph Women's Championship and the 2006 Southeastern Conference Women's Golf Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.
Prior to her stint at Vanderbilt, Parsons served as a graduate assistant at her alma mater, Belmont University, for the 2003-04 season. Before launching her coaching career, Parsons was the program director for the Tennessee Golf Foundation, where she instituted programs for beginning junior golfers and oversaw the planning of junior tournaments.
Parsons played collegiate golf at Western Kentucky from 1998-2001 and at Belmont from 2001-03.
Parsons earned a bachelor's degree in English in 2002 and a Master of Education in sport administration in 2003.
