"I chose UT Austin because it offers the perfect blend of championship-level rowing and outstanding academics. The team’s ambition, drive and focus are all fueled by a shared love for the sport. From everything I’ve seen and heard, the positive and supportive team culture at Texas stood out to me immediately. Teammates push each other to excel, and rowing for a national championship-winning program like Texas provides the opportunity to continually improve and become the best athlete and teammate possible. I’m also very excited to attend the McCombs School of Business. Its strong academic reputation and the opportunities afforded are important to me and will support my growth not only as an athlete but also as a student."
What led you to pursue rowing and what do you love most about it?
"I first tried rowing at my dad’s suggestion, but it was my teammates who motivated me to stick with it in those early days. Their support and drive made me realize I wanted to keep pursuing the sport for as long as possible. What I love most about rowing is its unique blend of demands—while most sports emphasize either precision or aerobic endurance, rowing requires both. Every stroke challenges you to combine technical accuracy with sustained physical power, making it both mentally and physically rewarding."
