Career
• A four-year starter for Texas who battled injuries during each of his first two campaigns on the Forty Acres.
• Aided Texas in posting at least 59 wins, capturing four Southwest Conference (SWC) titles, win the 1983 National Championship and finish third or better at the College World Series (CWS) in 1982 (t3rd), 1984 (2nd) and 1985 (2nd) during his four-year career.
• All four of the Longhorns team on which he played recorded win totals that rank among the top 10 all-time in school history, including the 1983 and 1984 teams which rank first and second, respectively, on that list.
• Turned in arguably his best college season as a junior in 1984 when he paced the Horns in batting (.343), hits (69), doubles (29), triples (4) and runs scored (102).
• Tied the school individual game record for home runs with three round-trippers at TCU on April 8, 1984, en route to leading Texas to a 16-8 victory over the Horned Frogs.
• Selected in the seventh round of the 1984 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Oakland Athletics, but opted to return to school for his senior season.
• Co-captained the 1985 team as a senior along with Bill Bates and helped the Horns set team school records for at bats (2,512), runs (663), hits (785) and RBI (78).
• Led the Longhorns in doubles (26) as a senior while also hitting .323 with a career-high 99 RBI and 63 runs scored.
