Boone named Texas Collegiate League's top prospect by Baseball America

AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas right-handed pitcher Randy Boone was named the top prospect to come out of the Texas Collegiate League (TCL) this summer by Baseball America. Fellow Longhorns Hunter Harris and Bradley Suttle were touted among the top prospects to come out of the Cal Ripken Sr. League and Cape Code League, respectively, by the national publication.
Boone highlighted the UT summer league contingent as he was tabbed the TCL Pitcher of the Year. He was also christened the TCL D-Bat Pitcher of the Month for June and a TCL all-league performer. Boone finished the season with a 6-0 record and 1.13 ERA to lead the pitching staff of the Coppell Copperheads. His ERA ranked second behind only Kurt Pessa of the Denton Outlaws. Boone struck out 65 batters in 58 innings and yielded just 31 hits and 10 total runs (seven earned).
Harris was rated fourth among the Cal Ripken Sr. League crop. Harris pitched in eight games, with six starts on the season for Youse's Orioles. He logged a 3-1 record with a 1.59 ERA. He registered 42 strikeouts. Harris ranked fourth in the league in earned run average and was selected to play in the league all-star game.
Suttle was ranked 22nd among players in the prestigious Cape Code League. Suttle appeared in 41 games for the Wareham Gatemen, amassing 31 runs and 18 RBI on the season. He posted 10 doubles and five home runs.
