Hey fans!
It was sure nice to get a day off on Monday! Our flight back from Oklahoma was delayed so we didn't get in until about 11 o'clock Sunday night. I don't know what it is about traveling by plane, but it sure makes me tired.
Our trip to Stillwater was good even though we split the series with the Cowgirls. I felt like we competed really well. We all saw some bright spots that we have been looking for over the past weeks. The team put up a great fight in Saturday's game but ended up falling short in the bottom of the 8th inning. However, we came out strong on Sunday, putting up three runs in the first. That was huge for us, since we have not been putting a lot of runs on the board.
We played small ball really well and got clutch hitting when we needed it. It finally felt like we were getting back into the swing of things and playing the game like we know we can. We are going to get a chance to put what we have been working on so hard over the past five days into our game against Texas A&M tonight. We have some very specific goals that we are taking into the game and we are focusing on our approach instead of the outcome.
The regular season is coming to an end very quickly and we are already talking about Senior Day! Yes, that's right, our last home games are this weekend against Iowa State. These games are going to be extra special for Jacqueline and I because they might be the last games we ever play here at McCombs Field. Four years go so fast!
My dad was just talking to me about the first game he came out to watch me play in the Fall of 2003. It seems like it was so long ago, but yet I remember those games vividly. My poor dad sounded so sad about me being done with college, but I think it's more of a growing-up thing that he is sad about. It's really cute to hear him talk about it.
Both of my parents will be in Texas this weekend to celebrate Senior Day. My mom is actually flying in today so she can go to the A&M game and see what it is like to play in College Station. She will also get to watch our doubleheader on Thursday vs. Texas Tech. I'm so happy that she is flying in early because she hasn't been out to Austin this year, and it will give us a chance to spend some time together.
This is going to be a great week of softball, five games in five days and the weather is supposed to be nice. Come on out and help cheer us on. And if you can't make it out during the week, then try and make it out this weekend because this may just be the last time you see Jackie and I play at McCombs Field.
Hoping to see you all soon!
