No. 1 Men's Swimming and Diving knocks off No. 20 SMU, 155-103

AUSTIN, Texas -- No. 1 Texas (7-1) claimed seven events and overwhelmed No. 20 SMU with its depth in a 155-103 victory over the Mustangs Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at UT's Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Junior Ricky Berens scored UT's first victory over the day, as he took the 100 butterfly in 47.62. Sophomore Matt Donch took second in 49.21, and freshman Neil Caskey placed third in 49.27. Senior Michael Klueh led a first through fourth Texas finish in the 200 freestyle, where he was victorious in 1:37.00. Sophomore Scott Jostes placed second in 1:40.07, and junior Dave Walters took third in 1:40.36. Freshman Jackson Wilcox placed fourth in 1:40.72.
Junior Mike Wong and sophomore Matt Cardell completed a UT sweep of the diving events. Wong claimed the one-meter event with 335.03 points, and Cardell took the three-meter event with 334.50 points.
Klueh tallied his second victory of the day in the 500 freestyle in 4:24.93, and Wilcox followed in second in 4:29.45. Senior Agustin Magruder claimed the 200 breaststroke for Texas in 2:01.83. Freshman Eric Friedland placed second in 2:04.17, and sophomore Brian Wilson took third in 2:05.05.
Texas finished off the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay, as Walters, Berens, freshman Jimmy Feigen and sophomore Jonathan Jackson finished in 1:21.07.
With the regular season now behind them, the Longhorns now will prepare for the Big 12 Championships set to begin Feb. 25 in Columbia, Mo.
