SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- Texas freshman Rebecca Lee-Bentham (71-70-75) shot a career-best 54-hole total of even-par 216 to finish in a tie for fourth while leading the Longhorns to a sixth-place finish at the Bruin Wave Invitational. Overall, Texas shot a combined 35-over 899 (303-298-298) to take sixth place in the 15-team field.
Lee-Bentham paced the Longhorns and earned her first career top-five finish. A stellar first 36 holes of 3-under 144 put her into a tie for the lead headed into Wednesday's finale at the Robinson Ranch Club. Lee-Bentham maintained her hot start on day three until a triple-bogey on the 16th hole dropped her to 3-over for the round and even par to finish the tournament (71-70-75). Lee-Bentham's second-round 2-under 70 included three birdies and only one bogey.
Sophomore Madison Pressel shot a 5-over-par 221 (76-72-73) to record her fourth-consecutive top-20 finish and finished in a tie for 12th place. Pressel carded the final-round low for the Horns with a 1-over 73.
Sophomore Haley Stephens (76-79-75) tied for 33rd at 14-over 230, while fellow sophomore Katelyn Sepmoree (80-77-75) tied for 45th at 16-over 232.
Junior Nicole Vandermade (87-80-87) rounded out Texas' scorecard with a 38-over 254 to finish in a tie for 81st.
Co-host UCLA (281-294-285) was the only team to finish under par, winning the event with a 4-under 860. Arizona (292-285-293=880, +16) and co-host Pepperdine (296-288-297=881, +17) finished second and third, respectively.
UCLA's Lee Lopez (70-73-69) was the individual winner with a 4-under 212.
