No. 8 Baseball scores come-from-behind win over Missouri, 5-4

AUSTIN, Texas - Despite allowing his first runs in over three games, starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann kept his perfect home record alive as the No. 8 Texas Longhorns' offense used a late-game rally to streak past the Missouri Tigers 5-4 Friday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Jungmann improved to 6-0 on the season after lasting 6.0 innings, allowing four runs - three earned - on four hits, walking three and striking out three. The northpaw improved to 15-0 in his career at UFCU Disch-Falk Field and the Longhorns improved to 22-0 when Jungmann his started games at The Disch.
Hoby Milner recorded his first career save after entering the game with two on and one out in the ninth to help Texas improve to 19-7 overall and 5-2 in Big 12 Conference play.
Down 4-0 entering the bottom of the fifth inning, Jonathan Walsh started the Texas' rally with a one-out single to centerfield. A Jordan Etier single put runners on first and second before a Brandon Loy single to rightfield scored Walsh and kept runners on first and second. After a strikeout to Mark Payton, Erich Weiss drew a walk to load the bases.
Lucas Kephart followed with a two-run single up the middle past the diving glove of shortstop Jesse Santo to put the score at 4-3 and retire Missouri's starting pitcher Rob Zastryzny. With runners on the corners, Tant Shepherd singled to right field off pitcher Jeff Emens to plate Weiss and tie the game.
One inning later, Etier's one-out double down the leftfield line scored Walsh, who reached on a walk. With the score at 5-4, pitchers Kendal Carrillo, Andrew McKirahan, Corey Knebel and Milner pitched three scoreless innings to close out the game.
The Tigers (13-13, 1-2) struck first in the top of the first after Missouri loaded the bases with one out after a single, error and hit batter. Jonah Schmidt's groundout to first scored Blake Brown to put the Tigers ahead 1-0, ending Jungmann's 25-inning scoreless streak.
Missouri extended its lead to 2-0 in the top half of the second after two-out triple by Brown scored Santo, who reached on a walk. In the top of the fifth, Dane Opel forced a two-out walk before Schmidt connected on a home run to left center to extend their lead to 4-0. It was the first home run allowed by Jungmann this season.
After Texas' five-run spurt in the next two innings, Missouri threatened again in the top half of the seventh after putting runners on the corners with no outs. Carrillo, who started the seventh, followed with a strikeout before McKirahan entered the game and forced an inning-ending, 6-4-3 double play.
Knebel pitched a perfect eighth before entering the ninth and getting into trouble. After a leadoff walk to pinch-hitter Ryan Ampleman and sacrifice bunt to put a runner on second with one out, Brown forced a walk to put two on with one out. Milner entered the game and allowed a single to pinch-hitter Dillon Everett to load the bases. However, Milner retired Conner Mach on a strikeout and got Opel to end the game with a flyout to centerfield.
Shepherd led the Longhorns' offensive attack, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Etier and Kephart each went 2-for-3, with Etier tallying one RBI and Kephart recording two. Walsh finished 1-for-1, forced two walks and scored two runs.
The Tigers were led offensively by Schmidt who finished 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Brown finished with three hits and recorded one walk, one run and one RBI.
Zastryzny lasted 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits while walking three and striking out two. Emens (1-1) took the loss after allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out two over 2.1 innings.
Texas and Missouri continue the series on Saturday with a 2 p.m. contest at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
