MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Texas-Ex Harrison Frazar shot a 3-under 67 in the final round before defeating Robert Karlsson on the third playoff hole to capture the PGA Tour's FedEx St. Jude Classic Sunday afternoon at TPC Southwind.
Frazar held a one-shot lead going into the final hole but bogeyed No. 18 and entered a sudden-death playoff with Karlsson. Both players parred the first playoff hole at No. 18 and parred the next playoff hole at No. 11, a par-three. At the third and decisive playoff hole at No. 12, Frazar two-putted for par while Karlsson missed his par putt to give Frazar the victory, his first on the PGA Tour.
Frazar is the second former Longhorn to win a PGA Tour event this season. Texas-Ex Jhonattan Vegas (2004-07) won the PGA Tour's Bob Hope Classic in January. Frazar's victory marks the 70th win on the PGA Tour for former Texas golfers. Texas-Ex Justin Leonard also captured the St. Jude Classic in 2008.
