Stephens leads Women's Golf at Stanford Intercollegiate

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Senior Haley Stephens carded an even-par 71 in Sunday's final round of the Stanford Intercollegiate to lead the Texas Women's Golf team in its next-to-last fall event before hosting next weekend's Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at The University of Texas Golf Club. Stephens' 54-hole total of 8-over-par 221 (76-74-71) tied her for 32nd place.
Stephens captured the Longhorns' second par score of the three-day event by making birdie on the ninth hole of Stanford Golf Course, her 54th hole of the tournament. Earlier in the round, she bogeyed No. 13, birdied No. 17 and encountered a second bogey at No. 5 while scattering 15 pars around the course.
Senior Madison Pressel (75-71-76=222) finished one stroke behind Stephens and tied for 36th place. Pressel notched UT's only other par round on Saturday.
Sophomore Bertine Strauss (80-79-73=232), senior Desiree Dubreuil (80-79-74=233) and freshman Tezira Abe (80-83-72-235) each saved their low rounds for Sunday, also, and finished in ties for 74th, 77th and 80th places, respectively.
As a team, the Longhorns shot a 6-over 290 - marking their best team score of the weekend - to finish at 904 (+52).
