SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Texas freshman All-American Jordan Spieth shot even-par 70 in Sunday's final round of the U.S. Open to finish at 7-over (74-74-69-70=287) for low amateur honors.
One of only three amateurs to make the cut, Spieth finished tied for 21st overall in his major championship debut. Beau Hossler (+9) and Patrick Cantlay (+11) finished two and four strokes back, respectively, in the amateur race at The Olympic Club.
Spieth made Friday's 36-hole cut right on the line at +8, but climbed the leaderboard on Saturday's 'moving day' with a 1-under 69, marking his first round in the 60s at a major.
