NEW ORLEANS -- Senior Desiree Dubreuil notched a season-best fifth-place finish at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate after carding a 1-under-par 143 (69-74) in the rain-shortened event. Dubreuil was one of just seven players to finish under par in the 36-hole tourney at the rain-soaked English Turn Golf & Country Club where damaging weather forced the cancellation of Monday's second round.
After matching her career-best 69 in Sunday's first round, Dubreuil began her second round in a more tumultuous fashion with four bogeys over her first 13 holes. With five holes remaining, she rattled off three consecutive birdies on Nos. 2-4 and dropped to 1-over on the day. A fifth bogey ensued on her last hole at No. 6 to result in the 2-over scorecard.
Sophomore Bertine Strauss (71-75) finished second among the Texas contingent in a tie for 13th place at 2-over 146. The finish marks Strauss' second top-15 of the year, which is second to Dubreuil's team-leading three top-15 finishes.
Senior Katelyn Sepmoree recorded Texas' low final-round of 1-over 73. Her scorecard included three bogeys and two bogeys. Sepmoree (77-73) finished tied for 35th place at 6-over 150.
Senior Madison Pressel (77-79=156) and freshman Natalie Karcher (77-82=159) rounded out the Longhorns in ties for 70th and 82nd places, respectively.
Southern California (287-293=580) bested UCLA (283-297) in a playoff to earn the team crown. Baylor's Hayley Davis (72-68) claimed medalist honors at 4-under 140.
