TEMPE, Ariz. -- Senior Desiree Dubreuil fired a career-low 68 in Saturday's second round of the PING/ASU Invitational to climb into a tie for third place at 6-under-par 138. As a team, the Longhorns (286-289=575, -1) carded a 1-over 289 team score and enter Sunday's final round at ASU Karsten Golf Course in seventh place overall and 12 shots behind 36-hole leader Duke (280-283=563).
With her only bogey of the day on the third hole, Dubreuil made the turn at +1 before instantly heating up on the back nine with an eagle on the 478-yard 10th hole. She drained back-to-back birdie putts on the 12th and 13th holes, and dipped to -4 with a final birdie at 17. Dubreuil's 36-hole total is also a career-low for the senior from Santa Ana, Calif.
Senior Katelyn Sepmoree notched a level 72 and is in red numbers at 1-under 143 to tie for 16th place. Senior Madison Pressel (70-75=145) is two strokes back and tied for 30th place to round out Texas' top-three players.
Sophomore Bertine Strauss (75-74=149) and freshman Natalie Karcher (75-77=152) are tied for 48th and 59th places, respectively.
Duke's Laetitia Beck (67-70) and Alabama's Emma Talley (68-69) are tied atop the player leaderboard at 7-under 137, a mere one stroke ahead of Dubreuil.
The Longhorns are set to commence final-round action Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. Central on the first tee alongside TCU and UCLA.
