TEAM NOTES
• Series: Texas and Texas Tech met for the 64th time in series history. UT has won 14 of the last 16 matchups, including the last six, and holds a 49-15 lead in the all-time series that began in 1928. The Horns are 19-10 against the Red Raiders in Lubbock, 30-5 in Austin, and 41-14 against them in all-time conference matchups (15-4 Big 12/26-10 SWC). The Longhorns won for the third-straight time in Lubbock, the second-longest road win streak in the series. UT won the first five road games between 1934 and '66. The current overall winning streak is the longest since Texas won eight in a row from 1958-66.
• Rushing Attack: The Longhorns racked up a season-high 241 rushing yards, the most since rolling up 281 vs. Texas Tech last season. Texas posted 190 vs. Baylor and 191 vs. Iowa State earlier this season. After averaging 120.5 rushing yards over the first four games, Texas has posted 172.0 over the last five.
• 100-Yard Rushing Game: The Longhorns recorded their first individual 100-yard rushing game of the season. Malcolm Brown had 116 yards on 22 carries. Brown has the last 100-yard rushing game – 130 vs. Oregon in last year's Alamo Bowl.
• Explosive Plays: One week after being limited to six explosive plays (12-plus yard rushes/16-plus yard catches) at Kansas State, the Longhorns rebounded with 10 (six rushing/four receiving) vs. Texas Tech. Against Oklahoma, Texas had a season-best 12 explosive plays and followed with nine vs. Iowa State. Three of tonight's explosive plays were in excess of 35 yards, all receptions by John Harris.
• Breaking Up: The Longhorns were credited with a season-best 10 pass breakups, including a career-high four by Duke Thomas. Texas had four PBUs in three other games this season.
• Sack Attack: The Longhorns combined for 26 sacks over the first eight games, which ranked tied for 15th in the FBS (3.25 per game), but were able to generate just one against the quick passing attack of Texas Tech that used two quarterbacks. However, the Red Raiders entered the game ranked tied for ninth nationally in sacks allowed (0.88 per game/seven total).
• Starting Lineups: The Longhorns used the same offensive starting lineup as they did two weeks ago vs. Iowa State. There was a new starter on defense with Bryson Echols opening the game as one of three cornerbacks.
• Injury Report: RB/WR Daje Johnson (hamstring) and RG Kent Perkins (knee) played in the game. Johnson missed the last three games. Perkins was injured during last week's K-State game.
• Game Captains: TE Greg Daniels and P Michael Davidson served as game captains.
