Two-time All-America junior Breaunna Addison upsets Miami’s seventh-ranked Stephanie Wagner.
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Texas junior Breaunna Addison knocked off a top-10 opponent to highlight day two for the Longhorns Saturday at the four-team Miami Spring Invite at Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
A two-time ITA All-American in singles, Addison notched a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 win over Miami's seventh-ranked Stephanie Wagner on her home court. The victory marks the Big 12 Player of the Year's first top-10 win of the season and second win over a national top-15 opponent. Addison (Boca Raton, Florida) defeated Duke's 12th-ranked Ester Goldfeld last fall.
Addison also picked up a doubles win alongside freshman Ryann Foster, as they defeated Utah's Tereza Bekerova and Margo Pletcher, 6-4.
The Miami Spring Invite is a four-team, non-bracketed event with individual teams taking on different schools in singles and doubles each day. The action concludes Sunday with the Longhorns meeting Vanderbilt in doubles and Utah in singles.
