No. 2 Volleyball defeats Kansas State, 3-0

The Longhorns improve to 17-1 and 7-0 on the season.
MANHATTAN, Kan. – No. 2 Texas Volleyball defeated Kansas State, 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-16) in Manhattan, Kan. on Wednesday night to improve to 17-1 on the season, including a 7-0 mark in Big 12 Conference play.
Senior Amy Neal posted her 16th match of the season with double-digit kills with 13, also adding 10 digs. Neal has led the Longhorns in kills in 14 of 18 matches this season and has five double-doubles.
Three additional Longhorns finished with double-digit digs, junior Nicole Dalton leading with a season-high 13, sophomore Cat McCoy 11 and senior Kat Brooks 10.
Junior Chloe Collins posted 34 assists, while senior Molly McCage led with four blocks.
Freshman Yaazie Bedart-Ghani and junior Paulina Prieto Cerame both posted eight kills, while McCage added six.
Texas held Kansas State to a .073 hitting percentage for its sixth opponent this season hitting .100 or worse.
In the first set, the Longhorns jumped out to an early 5-2 lead, but the Wildcats stayed close and evened the score at 10 after challenging a touch call. Texas responded with an 8-1 run behind kills from Neal and Bedart-Ghani to lead, 18-11. Kansas State made a push, but could not narrow the gap more than five points and the Horns closed set one, 25-16.
K-State led most of the first set until senior Kat Brooks tied the score at eight with a service ace. The Wildcats pulled ahead again until Texas went on a 5-2 run to take a 13-11 lead. KSU tied it again at 13-13, but a Neal kill and ace gave the Longhorns a two-point advantage once again. UT maintained the lead until Kansas State tied it again at 17-17 with a 3-0 run. The Wildcats tied the match once more at 20-20, but Texas ended the set on a 3-0 run behind kills from Neal and Bedart-Ghani, 25-21.
Kansas State took an early 6-3 lead to open the third set before the Longhorns fired back with a 5-0 run to take an 8-7 lead. The Wildcats regained the lead at 9-8 and again at 11-10 until UT went on a 5-1 run to lead, 15-12. From there, Texas outscored KSU, 10-4 to take the set, 25-16 and the match, 3-0.
Texas will host No. 7 Kansas on Friday, Oct. 23 at Gregory Gym at 8 p.m. The match will be televised live on Longhorn Network.
