Wednesday’s Veterans Day contest will be a special slow pitch game with the Sun City Veterans group
AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas softball program will wrap up its 2015 fall campaign this week by hosting St. Edward's in a make-up game on Tues., Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. CT before welcoming in the Sun City Veterans for a special split-squad, slow pitch Veterans Day exhibition on Wed., Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. CT.
Admission and parking, in any east side lot surrounding Red & Charline McCombs Field, is free to all who wish to attend either match-up. The Veterans Day game will also be broadcast live on Longhorn Network.
Special rules will be utilized during the Veterans Day game. Using a special restricted flight softball, each team may score a maximum of five runs and record one over-the-fence HR per inning (additional HR's count as outs), stolen bases will not be allowed and all outs at home plate are force outs.
Veterans Day festivities will include a veteran anthem singer and a U.S. Military Color Guard from Sun City, Texas. Also, a veteran will toss out the first pitch and be honored with a special presentation. Recognition will continue throughout the game with all branches of the U.S. Military being highlighted between innings.
