No. 5 Volleyball bounces back with road win over TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas -- No. 5 Texas Volleyball defeated TCU, 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-13, 27-25) in Fort Worth on Wednesday night to improve to 18-3, 10-1.
Junior Ebony Nwanebu led the Longhorns with 19 kills, hitting .405 in the match with only two errors on 42 attempts.
Senior Paulina Prieto Cerame and freshman Micaya White also posted double-digits, both with 13 kills. White recorded her fifth double-double of the season, adding 12 digs, while Prieto Cerame added three blocks.
Sophomore Morgan Johnson added eight kills on 12 swings and only one error for a .583 hitting percentage.
Senior Chloe Collins finished with 48 assists and six digs, while junior Cat McCoy and freshman Claire Hahn also had double-digit digs, McCoy with 16 and Hahn 15.
Sophomore Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani led the Longhorns in blocks for the third time this year with four, also posting seven kills.
In the first set, TCU jumped out to an early 8-4 lead, but the Longhorns fought back on a 5-0 run with White at the service line. The Horns followed with another 3-0 run, but the Frogs answered with a 3-0 run to tie the score at 13. From there, neither team led by more than two until TCU executed a 4-1 to take set one, 25-20.
Texas responded in the second set with a 5-1 lead behind kills from Nwanebu, White and Bedart-Ghani. The Longhorns maintained a lead of two or more throughout the set and evened the match with a 25-17 second-set victory.
The Longhorns picked up where they left off in the third set, jumping out to a 5-2 lead behind three kills from Nwanebu. They continued to stretch their lead, and closed out the set, 25-13. Texas hit .484 in the set, led by Nwanebu's six kills.
In the fourth set, UT pulled away early to lead, 6-3, but the Frogs answered, staying close and going on a 5-0 run to lead, 12-10. From there, neither team led by more than two until the Longhorns went on a 5-0 run of their own to take a 17-14 lead. TCU did not fold, executing a 3-0 run to tie it back at 17, but Texas held off the Frog rally and took set four, 27-25.
Ashley Smith led TCU with 15 kills and 16 digs.
The Horns will return home to host Baylor on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. The match will be televised live on Longhorn Network.
