EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - The University of Texas women's golf team concluded the opening round of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, featuring 12 of the top teams in collegiate women's golf, on Sunday in a tie for sixth place with a 12-over-par 300 at Olympic Hills Golf Club.
Battling inclement weather conditions, none of the 12 elite teams on Sunday turned in a team score under par and only one team - No. 1 Arkansas - finished the round with an even-par total. The Longhorns were second among the tournament field in pars recorded on Sunday with 58.
Freshman Agathe Laisne and senior Sophia Schubert, fresh off participating in The Evian Championship, one of five LPGA majors, concluded the opening round with two-over-par totals of 74. It was the first collegiate event for both this season and Laisne's collegiate debut in the Texas lineup. They are tied for 14th place in the individual standings.
Sophomore Emilee Hoffman, who along with freshman Kaitlyn Papp on Tuesday tied the school record with a seven-under-par 64 to conclude the Schooner Fall Classic, finished Sunday's opening round with a three-over-par 75. Sophomore Greta Isabella Voelker and Papp each carded five-over-par rounds of 77.
Top-ranked Arkansas leads the field with an even-par 288, while South Carolina is in second with a three-over-par 291. Stanford's Mika Liu and Southern Cal's Robynn Ree lead the individual field with four-under-par rounds of 68.
