No. 11 Women's Golf in second place heading into final round at Battle at the Beach

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – The No. 11 Texas women's golf team fired a three-under-par 281 – which tied for the best team round on Saturday – to move into a tie for second place following the opening two rounds at the Battle at the Beach, contested at Club Campestre San Jose Golf Club.

The Longhorns are currently five strokes back of the team lead heading into the event's final day. Texas has put together a one-under-par two-round total of 567 (286-281) and is currently tied with No. 1 UCLA (282-285). Oklahoma holds the team lead after 36 holes with a six-under-par total of 562 (281-281).

In Saturday's second round, Texas recorded a field-best 63 pars and also added 15 birdies on the day. The Longhorns also were the best team of the day on par-five holes with an average score of 4.50 on par fives. Through two rounds of the Battle at the Beach, Texas ranks second among the field with 113 pars and also second with 34 birdies.

Senior Sophia Schubert, who has recorded a top-10 finish in each of her previous two collegiate tournaments this season, is one stroke back of the individual lead and currently is in a tie for second place with a four-under-par two-round total of 138 (70-68). Her 68 on Saturday was her second-best 18-hole total of the season and her round consisted of 13 pars and four birdies.

Freshmen Kaitlyn Papp and Agathe Laisne are both in a tie for 11th place with one-over-par totals of 143. Papp (71-72) led the tournament field on Saturday with 15 pars, while Laisne (73-70) recorded a collegiate-best round of 70 on the second 18.

Sophomore Emilee Hoffman, who has recorded a top-25 finish in each of the team's four tournaments so far this season is in 17th place with a two-over par 144 (73-71), while sophomore Greta Isabella Voelker is in a tie for 30th place with a four-over-par total of 146 (72-74).

Competing as an individual, sophomore Maren Cipolla currently is in 25th place overall with a three-over-par two-round total of 145 (73-72). She is seeking her second consecutive top-25 individual finish after tying for 24th place at the Betsy Rawls Invitational last month.
