No. 6 Men’s Golf Ghim climbs 22 spots after day two at Trinity Forest Invitational

Senior Doug Ghim shot a 69 to place in the top-11 after the second round.
DALLAS, Texas – Senior Doug Ghim fired a team-low 69 to lead No. 6 Texas Men's Golf to a tie for sixth after the second round at the Trinity Forest Invitational on Monday.
Ghim made six birdies and shaved three strokes off his overall score, launching him from a tie for 33rd to a tie for 11th. Ghim's 26 pars are the third-most of any player in the field.
He began the day with a birdie and followed with four-straight pars before making a double-bogey on six, but fired back with two birdies on seven and nine to make the turn at 1-under par. He made three-straight pars to start the back nine before making back-to-back birdies on four and five to go three-under par. He made another double-bogey on 17, but again bounced back with a birdie on 18 to conclude the round 2-under par.
Senior Scottie Scheffler leads the Longhorns in a tie for sixth after posting a second-round 74. He made three birdies on the day for 10 total, the second-most of any player in the field. He sits three strokes out of first place going into the final round.
Freshman Kristoffer Reitan and sophomore Spencer Soosman both tied for 26th at 2-over 144, while junior Steven Chervony tabbed a 77, bringing him to 9-over 151.
Texas' individual competitor sophomore Nick Costello shot a 71 on Monday, tying for 26th with Reitan and Soosman.
The Longhorns sit at even par, eight strokes behind leaders Auburn and Florida.
Auburn and Florida lead the tournament at 8-under 560. Individual leaders Justin Suh from Southern California and Brandon Mancheno from Auburn shot 69 and 68, respectively, bringing their totals to 6-under 136.
Texas will tee off for the third and final round on Tuesday, September 26th starting at 8:00 a.m. CT with Clemson and Iowa.
